Add to basketGeo. A. Ogle & Co. Standard Atlas of St. Joseph County, Indiana. Chicago: Geo. A. Ogle & Co., Publishers & Engravers. 1911. Approximately 14 x 18 inches. 113 pages plus supplement, with full-color plat maps of every township, detailed colored street maps of South Bend and Mishawaka, a Patrons' Reference Directory of county residents, portrait illustrations, and maps of Indiana, the United States, and the world. Original blue cloth boards with red leather spine and corners, blind-stamped Greek-key border; the front board is detached at the hinge and the spine head is frayed, with the corners rubbed and bumped. Interior generally clean and sound with only a few faint pencil and crayon marks to the outline-map margins; the hand-colored plat maps remain bright and vibrant. Overall good. This large folio county atlas is a landmark of early-twentieth-century Indiana cartography, mapping land ownership parcel by parcel across St. Joseph County at the height of the Studebaker era in South Bend. Ogle's "Standard Atlas" series is prized by genealogists, local historians, and map collectors for its hand-colored township plats that name individual property owners section by section. Copy B.
