"Duncan Hines Adventures in Good Cooking and the Art of Caring at Home," by Duncan and Clara Hines. A collection of classic 20th century American recipes. This is a very rare1952 edition of the original 1939 book. 631 authentic mid-century American recipes. Book has no marks or tears whatsoever, and the binding is tight. Pages are normally yellowed for a 70+ year old book. The front cover has one small crease. (See photo.) "Duncan Hines (March 26, 1880 ? March 15, 1959) was an American author and food critic who produced restaurant ratings for travelers. He branched out to marketing food under his name, which continues as a brand in the present." Hines was enormously popular in the early to mid-20 century, and penned a syndicated, thrice-weekly newspaper column on food. This classic cookbook includes an index of all sources (restaurants and individuals) of the recipes, and famously has the first published recipe of Sanders Court & Cafe, owned and operated by Col. Harland Sanders, in Corbin, Kentucky.
