9.75 x 7" blue snakeskin-texture album with "Photographs" in gold. Contains around 86 black-and-white photographs from the 1948 Olympic Games held in St. Moritz, Switzerland, the first Olympics to be held after World War II. The first page has a picture of a dog, identified as "Betsy" illustrated by A. Kesselkaul. The next page has a color map entitled "My Swiss Tour" with a handwritten note in the corner about the 1948 Olympic Games. There are some wonderful photos of the hotels that housed athletes, rows of the different national flags flying, and views of the mountains and trails used for the skiing events. There seem to be some photos of members of the British women's team, who appear to be signing autographs for spectators. There are also photos from the ice hockey event. As there are several photos of women with skis, I believe that this was put together by an English skier that possibly took part at these Olympic games. Photos measure between 1.25 x 2.75" and 4.25 x 6" and are held to the pages with corner tabs; most of the photos are not annotated, although some have writing on the photographs.
