Supplementary Pamphlet included. 549 Pages. Book measures 9.50 x 6.25", 8vo. In good condition. Leather binding, light rubbing on rear board (mostly around gilt deco) and head of spine but overall attractive. The Easton Press book plate found on front paste-down. Bright gilt lettering and deco on binding. Spot of soiling fore edges on pages 489-494. Text box primarily clear and bright. Binding tight and intact. Please see photos. R. D. Blackmore, was one of the most famous English novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century. He won acclaim for vivid descriptions and personification of the countryside. His work includes a Western England background and a strong sense of regional setting in his works. Blackmore, often referred to as the "Last Victorian", was a pioneer of the movement in fiction. He has been described as "proud, shy, reticent, strong-willed, sweet-tempered, and self-centred."
