Geld stellt ein zentrales Instrument f�r das Funktionieren des Rechts- und Wirtschaftsverkehrs dar. Nahezu s�mtliche Vertragstypen weisen eine Geldleistungspflicht auf. Geld ist das universale und neutrale Tauschmittel, das den Austausch von Waren und Dienstleistungen unterschiedlichster Art in einer arbeitsteiligen Gesellschaft erm�glicht. Im Hinblick auf diese au�erordentlich hohe praktische wie rechtswissenschaftliche Bedeutung erscheint das fragmentarische BGB-Geldrecht der �� 244-248 BGB kodifikatorisch unscheinbar. Die vollst�ndige Neubearbeitung des Geldrechts - fast zwei Jahrzehnte nach der letzten Bearbeitung - wendet sich daher nicht nur den einzelnen fremdw�hrungs- und zinsrechtlichen Bestimmungen in den �� 244-248 BGB zu; vielmehr nimmt sie in den ausf�hrlichen Vorbemerkungen Stellung sowohl zu �berzeitlichen Grund- als auch aktuellen Einzelfragen im Kontext von Geld und W�hrung sowie von Geldschuld und Geldwert.
