Excerpt from the first page: "In obedience to a resolution of the Senate of the 6th instant, calling for information as to whether the Indian commissioners or agents in California have contracted any debts for which the government is liable--and if so, the amount thereof--and whether any drafts drawn by them have been protested by the department--and if so, the amont--I herewith communicate a report from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, dated the 13th instant, which, it is believed, contains all the information in the possession of the department in relation to the subject.".
