Christopher "Chip" Scanlan started out in news delivering his hometown paper, The Greenwich (CT) Time. For two decades, he worked as an award-winning beat and general assignment reporter, feature writer, investigative reporter and Washington correspondent in newsrooms big and small.Since 1994, he has coached writers and editors around the globe. He is the former director of writing programs and the National Writer's Workshops at The Poynter Institute, one of the world's top schools for journalists.Chip has authored or edited a dozen books, including anthologies of prize-winning journalism, a novel "The Holly Wreath Man" (co-written with Katharine Fair), two journalism textbooks and most recently "Writers on Writing: Inside the lives of 55 distinguished writers and editors" and "Writers on Writing: The Journal."His nonfiction and fiction has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post Sunday Magazine, Salon.com, NPR, Redbook, The American Scholar, Elysian Fields, River Teeth and Sunday Short Reads, among numerous other publications.
