About the Author: Dr. Anne C. Witt is an experienced teacher at the elementary, secondary, and college levels. Currently she is adjunct associate professor of music education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she teaches courses in instrumental teaching techniques and supervises student teachers. Dr. Witt taught middle school and high school instrumental music for fourteen years in Austin. She has presented workshops for teachers in many states and is a frequent adjudicator. She has guest-conducted many all-region orchestras in Texas and festival orchestras and all-state orchestras around the country.
Dr. Witt served as president of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association and president of the American String Teachers Association. Dr. Witt earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama and M.M. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Her publications include many articles in the American String Teacher and Recruiting for the School Orchestra, published by the Selmer Company, Inc. With other string educators. she is an author of Teaching Stringed Instruments: A Course of Study and Strategies for Teaching the National Standards published MBNC. She is also the author of A Rhythm a Week for Strings published by Warner Bros. Publications.
