Lama Rinzen awakens from meditation to find himself reincarnated as a detective on Denver’s Colfax Avenue. Immediately he realizes that once again he has been reborn into the Hell Realm—this time charged with finding insurance man Sonny Heller’s killer. Rinzen believes finding Heller’s killer will lead to the Sacred Dorje, which has eluded the lama for many lifetimes. By finding the Dorje, he will become a bodhisattva, allowing him to lead all sentient beings to Nirvana. But should the Dorje escape his grasp, Rinzen will be forcedto suffer yet another lifetime in Hell, haunted by past demons and his failure to achieve enlightenment.

About the Author

As a 20+ year practitioner of Buddhism and as a fan of detective fiction, Jim finds profound similarity between the Buddha's teachings to see the world as it is and the detective's challenge to focus only on the facts of the case. Both Buddhist and detective struggle to experience what it plainly there in front of them, without the overlay of prejudice, presumption, or ego.

Besides the Lama Rinzen Mysteries, Jim authors the WritingLikeaBuddha.com blog, offering meditations and writing exercises to help followers appreciate the small moments of meaning in our daily lives. He previously published the "saleshorror" novel Wolf, and lives with his Tibetan Terrier, Rascal, in rural Colorado.
