The 50 States in 50 Words (My First 50 States)

Meet the 50 states in 50 iconic words for things ranging from proud mascots to colorful quirks. Delicious foods, amazing animals, storied skyscrapers…

It’s all here in The 50 States in 50 Words, helping 3–5-year-olds celebrate each state in one small way.

Huskies race fast in Alaska, blueberries burst with goodness in Maine, and sailboats bob by in Rhode Island!

Younger kids will love recognizing the tiny critters and big, bright sights from their state and beyond, while older readers will find a memorable fact on every page. Starting in Alabama and finishing in Wyoming, and with D.C. and the US territories explored for good measure, The 50 States in 50 Words is a gentle guide to the USA by way of new and familiar early-learning concepts, from shapes and colors to sizes and sounds.

In between the states, you’ll find maps that pop with facts and a gallery of the state flags, putting each word in context and helping young readers learn more about the USA.

With friendly text that’s perfect for reading out loud from Heather Alexander, and art from The 50 States illustrator Sol Linero, The 50 States in 50 Words is sure to delight readers of any level, and take them on their first steps to discovering the states.
