From AudioFile:
Boffin--thats British slang for a nerd--in this case, Richard Hodgson, an overweight, insecure but witty, endearing teen. Narrator Paul Chequer is terrific as Richard, his best friend, Mouse (a fellow boffin), the cool kids, and Richards overprotective parents. After being in a serious bus accident, Richard makes up his mind to take some risks, move out of his comfort zone. He begins to experiment with what he perceives to be cool male behavior--acting out towards parents and teachers, pursuing girls, and expressing his macho side. In doing so, he learns the good and bad of being oneself. The story is believable, warm, and hilarious--perfect for young listeners of all ages.
