From the Back Cover

Solomon Creed, the enigmatic hero introduced in The Searcher, is back—racing to stop a killer from fulfilling a bloody legacy with origins stretching back to the dying days of World War II.

Only one boy can see the darkness. Only one man can save him from it.

In Cordes, France, an elderly tailor is murdered in his shop, and the killer leaves a cryptic message scrawled on the wall: “Finishing what was begun . . .”

Solomon Creed has been searching for the tailor, hoping the old man might provide a clue to his true identity, but he arrives in Cordes too late and finds nothing but the alarming crime scene. He discovers that the tailor was in possession of a list of names, survivors of a notorious Nazi death camp, who might also know who Solomon really is. The old man died to protect this list. Now his granddaughter, Marie-Claude, has it, and her life is in immediate danger.

Solomon convinces Marie-Claude and her young son, Léo, to go on the run, on a journey that will take them into the heart of Europe’s violent past and pit them against a powerful and formidable enemy. Their only weapons are Solomon’s abilities, Marie-Claude’s determination to discover the truth, and Léo’s unusual synesthesia, which enables him to see emotions as colors that reveal the true intentions of those around him. It is a curse as well as a gift, exposing him to darkness no child should see. What begins as a small-town murder becomes a breathless race against time to rewrite history and unearth a devastating secret dating back to the darkest days of the war.
