Wade is a former IRS revenue officer and is now a tax consultant. His book offers sensible guidelines one should apply when considering the tax consequences of purchases, investments, loans, sales, and any other money matters. He emphasizes the type of record keeping that could audit-proof the return. As this is not foolproof, he suggests alternatives that should be considered in case of an audit. Finally, he provides annotated data from the actual IRS Auditor's Manual, the source of guidelines an agent uses when conducting the audit. This last part provides useful reference data for the librarian and user. While tax auditing is a complicated affair, Wade's style is good for the layperson and the information relates to principles that transcend tax law changes. Steven J.
