Synopsis

This text, based on the widely used Intel Family of Microprocessors, requires only a basic knowledge of DC and AC electricity and a working knowledge of digital circuits and gates. These chapters take an inside look at the IBM PC family of computers, including information on the programs for various subsystems, such as keyboard, monitor, and printer ports. Nearly one-half of the material is new to this edition in response to the rapid changes and technological advances in microprocessors. Each chapter contains a wealth of questions and problems. The Laboratory Manual parallels the textbook. And the Instructor’s Guide provides answers to questions and problems in the text as well as information concerning the results of the experiments with programs in the Laboratory Manual.
