About the Authors France and its southern tier are "second home" to Darwin Porter, a native of North Carolina, and Danforth Prince, who lived in France throughout most of his 20s. Darwin, who has worked in television advertising and as a bureau chief for the Miami Herald and who hopes someday to create a perfect bouillabaisse, wrote the original version of Frommer's France. Dan, who began his association with Darwin in 1982, worked for the Paris bureau of the New York Times between renovations of a historic building in the Loire Valley and bicycle trips through Provence and the Camargue. Both writers know southern France well, as they've made countless trips there, for both work and R&R.
