Angela Labarca (Ph.D., Ohio State University), a native of Chile, is Professor of Spanish and Director of the Spanish LBAT program in Madrid and the intermediate program in Valencia. She has published several articles and chapters in volumes on the psycholinguistics of second language reading and testing, and has co-edited two books on second language acquisition. She has also written or co-authored more than 18 textbooks for the teaching of Spanish and English at all levels as well as standardized Rasch-analyzed language tests. In a career spanning 34 years of college teaching in four major universities, she has taught all language levels, including Scientific, Business and Medical Spanish and English. She has also taught numerous graduate courses on language acquisition research and testing, has directed dissertations and a research program, and trained instructors and TAs. She is very active on the international level and has taught at the Universities of Rome, Seville and Sofia, and trained instructors in Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany, and Italy. In the U.S., she is a technical translator and language and culture consultant to the profession, universities and corporations.
