Written in a conversational tone, it incorporates reading questions throughout the text to guide the students in their reading. Linear, exponential, logarithmic, periodic, and power functions are introduced early in the text allowing the rest of the text to be organized around mathematical concepts rather than types of functions.
Drawing on their experience working on their National Science Foundation grant-funded PROJECTS FOR PRECALCULUS the authors incorporated input from many instructors who piloted the materials to create PRECALCULUS: A STUDY OF FUNCTIONS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS.
