Synopsis
MOTIFS is a complete program for first year French with a communicative, thematically based approach. Each of its sixteen modules thoroughly integrates vocabulary, grammar, and cultural insights with that module's theme. The themes highlight student life and personal experiences. The activities provided allow students to focus on meaningful communication while practicing key structures closely tied to the contexts where they naturally occur in French. Specific suggestions for approaching each module component are presented. In addition, extensive marginal annotations can be found throughout the text, providing suggestions for presenting new material and for supplementing activities. These also contain additional cultural information and answers to activities, as well as extensive examples of teacher talk in French. Appendix B has answers to the Structure Exercises.
