THE TOLKIEN LIBRARY, by J R R Tolkien. Box set of 5 hardcovers, published in 1978 by George Allen & Unwin, London. Very, very scarce and handsome set. Contains The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The Hobbit has numerous color plates and black and white illustrations, and each of the other volumes has a large fold-out two-color map. All in excellent condition, barely appear to have been used. The Hobbit has former owner's name (first initial and last name) written small on the endpaper, the others not marked. Each with original dust jacket in excellent condition. A couple small scratches to slipcase.
