PreSchool-Grade 1-- Amy, an endearing, chubby-cheeked preschooler, gazes out the window at the falling snow. . .but not for long. Grabbing her hat and coat, she persuades her father to make a snowman with her. They don colorful mittens and scarves and head outside. While her father makes the snowman, Amy tastes snowflakes on her tongue and takes notice of the wet and cold. Her mother supplies the crowning carrot for the snowman's nose, and then they all go inside for hot chocolate. Very young children will delight in Hoban's colorful crayon and watercolor drawings which take readers from the cozy, bright interior of Amy's house to the cool blueness of a winter's day. The simple sentences in large type make this fourth story about Amy a good choice to share with young children, as well as an easy book for beginning readers.
