Reviews

PreSchool-Grade 1 A welcome change of pace from the many books on sibling rivalry. While visiting their grandparents, Molly and little sister Jenny work on making a Chocolate Mud Cake, complete with stones, leaves, and ``nuts and berries for crunch.'' In Me Too! Me Too! both children play dress-up on a rainy day, then go outside to run and splash in the rain. Molly is the perfect older sister in these stories, generously involving Jenny in all of the activities. While the storylines are simple and the writing somewhat bland, the books display a coziness between the two sisters. Gundersheimer's sprightly watercolors brighten the full pages. They perfectly catch the character of two children delighting in activities with which preschool readers are familiar. The books do a wonderful job of portraying the special world of preschoolers in which adults are a loving presence in the background but the focus is on the kids.
