About the Authors
Late one night, while counting sheep, Gloria Rothstein wrote Sheep Asleep! Although this is her first picture book, she's been writing about children's books for years, including Real-Life Writing Activities Bases on Favorite Picture Books and Read Across America. She lives in Boca Raton, Florida.
Anne and Lizzy Rockwell have collaborated on all the Mrs. Madoff books, including St. Patrick's Day and Presidents' Day, and Who Lives in an Alligator Hole? in the Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science series. Lizzy is the author-illustrator of Good Enough to Eat, The Busy Body Book, The All-Together Quilt, and How Do You Feel? Lizzy lives in Connecticut.

PreSchool-Under the watchful eye of their mama, 10 little sheep put on their pajamas, brush their teeth, and engage in a variety of stalling techniques to delay bedtime. With the turn of each page, one more lamb has fallen asleep. Finally, the last one ends up counting sheep to help him drift off. The rhyming text and singsong quality make it easy for young children to learn the story and thus "read" it by themselves. They will enjoy the humorous, colorful illustrations, and will want to pore over the book's many details. The picture of the three sheep playing baseball on the bed is especially hilarious. A great choice for bedtime sharing.
