An in–depth collection of well–crafted photography – including many never before published images.
Operation Iraqi Freedom galvanised the interest and passions of people of all political stripes around the world. From the soldiers braving sandstorms and bullets to demonstrations of support and protest around the world, from the toppling of Saddam's statue to the POWs that made it home, journalists and photographers have been at the frontlines of every battle abroad and every major storyline at home. In this powerful photography collection, which includes many never–before published images, readers will be able to experience the war from every angle and understand as never before its heroism and heartache.
With 350 of the most compelling, intimate, and historical moments of the war that divided a nation and freed a people presented in one comprehensive photo essay, The War in Iraq tells the story of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the way that only pictures can.

This album consists of 250 color photographs taken during the war in Iraq by more than 100 photojournalists. There are many shots of soldiers; some are in foxholes, some are holding prisoners, and others are lounging in one of Saddam Hussein's palaces. There are photos of planes in the air, badly injured Iraqis, Iraqi citizens in the streets, dead bodies, pro-war and anti-war marches around the world, Iraqi women army volunteers on parade, women weeping for lost loved ones, and looting, There also are (less interesting) photos of such figures as General Franks, President Bush, Kofi Annan, Donald Rumsfeld, and Colin Powell. Included is a section devoted to Hussein's family photos and private art collection that were discovered when American and British forces secured Hussein's palaces and safe houses--a total of 29 photographs and paintings. A four-paragraph introduction speaks of the "awesome opportunity and challenge of remaking the nation." These images vividly show the horror of war and the carnage it brings. The word "opportunity" is clearly out of place here. George Cohen
