Planned as a study of conflicting ex pectations in the mother/daughter rela tionship, Linked Lives emerges as a rather boring rehash of already contra dictory literature with the addition of examples and interviews from a small sample of mothers and daughters. Fi scher has surveyed and interviewed only 43 mother/daughter couples, and some of her conclusions are based on an even smaller sample.
