About the Author:
Dr. Stephen Juan grew up in California and holds B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Berkeley, California. From 1978, Dr. Juan taught in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney where he was in charge of the First-Year Program. He is currently having a sabbatical in California. He is an anthropologist by training and one of Australia's best-known communicators of research. Dr. Juan has been honoured in Australia and overseas for his writing and other public education work. He appears regularly on Australian radio, TV, and in the press covering any and all topics having to do with being a human being. Booksellers often find it difficult to decide which part of the bookshop to stock his books. He says, 'They don't know whether they should put them in science, psychology, medecine or even humour. I guess it doesn't matter - as long as they put them somewhere!'
