About the Author

Matthew Landrus is is a specialist on the early modern history of art and science in Italy. As an associate lecturer for the Open University, he teaches a course on Leonardo da Vinci. He has taught Renaissance and medieval art history at Oxford University and Rhode Island School of Design, and has published a number of articles on Leonardo, and is now working on a book about Leonardo's Giant Crossbow.
