About the Author

Hardcover. 478p., signed by the Chilean American writer neatly across the titlepage. First American edition first printing, hardbound in black papered boards titled silverfoil and enclosed in the dust jacket. A very good copy, fine really, allowing for a distributor's "Autographed" label to jacket and just the faintest hint of dust jacket edgewear: perfectly sound, clean and unmarked (except for Allende's autograph). Murder mystery with all the bells and whistles and faults of high literature. Not the easiest read, commencing with the discovery of the corpse (by children!) in a particularly nasty murder.
