The author of Beyond God the Father and Gyn/Ecology blends autobiography and visionary philosophy to reveal her struggles to reclaim the treasures of knowledge stolen and hidden from women. National ad/promo. Tour.

Surprisingly, the autobiography of this self-styled Nag-Gnostic philosopher, consisting of recollections and musings from diverse periods and places, only some of which are located in everyday reality (which Daly calls "foreground"), follows a conventional format. It details chronologically her childhood, education, publications, the harassment she has experienced at Boston College, and her ongoing adventures and evolving ideas. Longtime Daly fans will appreciate this opportunity to explore further her growth/discovery processes, and for the uninitiated, footnotes illuminate the unique vocabulary she employs to describe her brand of feminist meta-ethics. The book's repetitiveness makes it tedious in places--the excerpts from fan letters and reviews seem self-indulgent and could have been abbreviated--but this vintage Daly is likely to excite the same demand as Gyn/Ecology ( LJ 12/78), Pure Lust ( LJ 5/1/84), and their predecessors. Recommended.
