A self-described "recovering psychotherapist," best-selling author Schaef analyzes popular addiction/recovery therapy, concluding that real healing must be a deep process which comes from within each individual. Mary Beth Hurt's reading of this essay is consistently clear, expressive and even-paced, with appropriate emphasis. The sound quality is good. However, the first-person narrative to an audience of fellow psychotherapists is long and rambling, with no introduction, chapter headings, or meaningful pauses.
