Two new volumes join the "Access" series, which to date includes works on New York City, London, and Rome. The newest additions, which cover two of this country's most popular vacation destinations, contain tremendous amounts of practical and interesting information, but as planning and take-along tour books their organization is annoying. Although the books are color-coded (blue printing for hotels, red for restaurants, etc.), they are organized strictly by neighborhood, making it difficult, for instance, to run down a comprehensive list of hotels. Still, the thorough index in each book partially helps to overcome the organizational difficulties. In addition, the information goes beyond the average tour book. The Santa Fe volume, for example, discusses movies filmed in New Mexico and mentions lists of personal favorites by people who know and love the area. Both books also contain useful, legible maps and practical telephone numbers. A good purchase for public libraries.
