Known as a pioneering work in developmental education, A READER FOR DEVELOPING WRITERS was the first book to fully exploit the reading/writing connection as a tool for teaching writing. Now in its third edition, this rhetorically-organized reader/rhetoric carefully guides students through the writing process with an outstanding collection of essays, student essays, poems and fiction. A READER FOR DEVELOPING WRITERS leads the student through the discovery of the writing process and guides students in their reading, in exploring their response to their reading, and in developing that response in writing. Along the way students are introduced to the basic rhetorical strategies, to college-level vocabulary, and to the forms and levels of discourse they will encounter in all of their college reading.
