About the Author

Rick Kaletsky specializes in hazard recognition, site inspection, and citation resolution. Prior to founding his firm in 1992, he worked for USDOL/OSHA for twenty years, serving as safety specialist and assistant area director. As such, he conducted hundreds of compliance inspections (and reviewed thousands), and successfully negotiated hundreds of settlement agreements with employers. At the regional level, he evaluated Voluntary Protection Programs.

Rick has taught OS&H in colleges at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has been a faculty member of the National Business Institute, the Council on Education in Management, and the Institute of Business Law. He is an advisory panel member for the Bureau of Business Practice and for Business & Legal Reports, and a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the National Safety Council, and the Connecticut Safety Society. He has been a consultant to several professional associations.

Rick is a frequent speaker on OS&H, sought-after for his high degree of knowledge, attention to detail, many years of experience "in the field," and interest-holding style of presenting with clarity, humor, and enthusiasm. More than 130 of his articles have been published, and he has appeared on television. He is the sole lecturer and inspector in two videotapes, the most recent being the 2002 "Walk-Thru Safety Inspection: Through the Eyes of an OSHA Compliance Officer." He is also quite proud of his long-term association with the Odyssey of the Mind ("OM") international problem-solving program and competition. "OM" teaches the value of brainstorming, divergent thinking, and being innovative-- team-based concepts that Rick encourages be used in the pursuit of employee protection and OSHA compliance.
