Synopsis
The words "system" and "System engineering" mean many things to many people; what I mean by them is explained in Section 1-1 and this definition has influenced the choice of subjects, of authors, and of material included. From Introduction: System engineering, and thence this book, is concerned with the design of a specific lass of systems, which are characterized below. First we describe system environments; then we present the most important components used in modern systems; this is followed by certain theoretical tools and techniques commonly used in this field; and we conclude with a few branches of mathematics which are particularly pertinent to the system-design endeavor.
