In essence, it is a cookbook for software engineering, presenting the subject as a series of steps (or rules) that the student can apply to successfully complete any software project. In contrast, Pressman's other book, Software Engineering: A Practitioner's Approach, 5/e, (2001), is intended as a text for senior and graduate level courses and is a more comprehensive, in-depth treatment of the software engineering process.
