This book presumes only calculus and provides a thorough introduction to the conceptual foundations of probability theory, and to a number of advanced topics. Intuitive insight is emphasized, and there are many examples and exercises having an applicational flavor. The first part of the book has been used for a first course in probability at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, while a later portion has been used for an introductory stochastic process course, emphasizing the Poisson and Wiener processes with generalizations. Thus there is more than enough material for a year course, and the book is organized for flexibility. At the end of the book is an extensive summary which has proved to be invaluable as a learning aid and for reference.
