Abstract
This is an introductory and reference book on Telecommunications Management Network. It explains the TMN concepts such as what is TMN, different TMN architectures, interfaces and reference points. It has details on Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning (OAM&P).
This book has a good discussion on ASN.1 and GDMO and TMN information model. It also explains management protocols used in TMN such as ACSE, CMISE, SNMPv1, SNMPv2, and SNMPv3.
This book covers TMN applications in detail. Some of the applications covered are – TMN for wireless communications, SDH, ATM, and SONET. It also includes a good discussion on the latest TMN related topics such as CORBA, Java, and Web based TMN. This book treats elaborately TMN management frameworks, challenges and future trends in TMN.

About the Author
Mr. Udupa worked for Siemens Information and Communication Network, ISR Global Telecom and IBM in the US in different capacities. He has a wide range of experience as a software developer, designer and architect in computer and telecommunication industries spanning more than fifteen years. He worked in the areas of networking protocols, network management protocols, and TMN.
Mr. Udupa has a B. Sc (Engg) in Mechanical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University, an M. E. in Mechanical Engineering from Calcutta University, and an M. S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He holds two patents and has published many technical articles.
He also lectures and writes on IT and other issues. He is the founder of Quality Media.com Private Limited® (QMPL). QMPL publishes computer and Internet related books.
He is a member of ACM.
