About the Author

Dr Rajkumar Buyya is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering and Director of the Grid Computing and Distributed Systems (GRIDS) Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has pioneered the economic paradigm for utility-oriented distributed computing platforms such O16as Grids and Clouds, and served as foundation Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing. In recognition of these outstanding contributions, he received ‘2009 IEEE Medal for Excellence in Scalable Computing’. He has authored over 280 publications, which include best selling textbooks such as Mastering C++ (Tata McGraw-Hill, India, 2009) and edited books such as High Performance Cluster Computing (Prentice Hall, USA, 1999), Content Delivery Networks (Springer, Germany), and Market Oriented Grid and Utility Computing (Wiley Press, USA, 2009). He currently serves as the founding CEO of Manjrasoft Pvt Ltd., developing innovative software technologies for Grid and Cloud computing. Dr Thamarai S Selvi is a Professor and Head of the Department of Information Technology, MIT Campus, Anna University Chennai, India. She is also serving as Director of Centre for Advanced Computing Research and Education (CARE). She received Bharat Jyoti Award from India international Friendship Society in 2001. She has authored several research papers and books including A Textbook on C# (Pearson Education) and Testing your Skills in C (Tata McGraw-Hill). She has over 25 years of teaching experience and over 15 years of R&D experience. Her research interests include Semantic Grids, Trusted Cloud and Grid Computing. Mr Xingchen Chu is a Research Fellow in the Grid Computing and Distributed Systems (GRIDS) Laboratory, Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has over 9 years of experience with software architecture, design, and development on a variety of platforms, including J2EE and .NET. His R&D interests include enterprise applications and Grid and Cloud computing technologies. Along with Dr Buyya, he received Vice-Chancellor’s Knowledge Transfer Award from the University of Melbourne in 2007. Currently, he is involved in supporting the commercialisation of GRIDS Lab’s innovations via Manjrasoft.
