About the Author

Phalguni Gupta is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, UP. He received his PhD degree from IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal in 1986. Prior to joining IIT Kanpur, he was with Image Processing and Data Product Group of the Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad, Gujarat (1983-1987) and was involved in developing a system for correcting image data received from first Indian Remote Sensing Satellite. His research interest includes sequential algorithms, parallel algorithms, online algorithms, image processing, biometrics, and identity and infrastructure management. Currently, he is responsible for several research projects in the area of image processing, biometrics and parallel processing. Over the last 26 years, he has published over 150 peer-reviewed journals and conference papers. He is also the coauthor of a book and six book chapters. He is a recipient of 2007 IBM Faculty Award. Surya Prakash is currently a PhD scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, UP. He received his MS degree in computer science and engineering from IIT Madras, Tamil Nadu. His research interest includes image processing, computer vision, biometrics, and identity and infrastructure management. He has published two journals and nine conference papers. Umarani Jayaraman is currently a PhD scholar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, UP. She received her MTech degree in computer science and engineering from Arulmigu Meenakshi Amman Engineering College, Tamil Nadu. Her research interest includes pattern recognition, biometrics, high dimensional data structures and infrastructure management.
