About the Author

Dr Cai Fang, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and director of Institute of Population Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China. He obtained his PhD in economics from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Dr Justin Yifu Lin, chief economist and senior vice president of the World Bank. He is the founder and director of the China Center for Economic Research, former professor of economics at Beijing University, and at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.
Dr Cao Yong, associate professor and former vice dean of Business School of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and former research fellow of Institution of Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He obtained his PhD in economics from the Australia National University.
