Pankaj Mohan, PhD, MBA, AMP, CEng, FIChemE, has over 16 years of diverse multinational (United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and India) experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, which includes over 10 years of experience with Eli Lilly and Company in various leadership and technical assignments in the United Kingdom and the United States; 3 years of experience in academia with a center of excellence in biochemical engineering at University College London, UK; and about 2.5 years of experience in process utilities operations in India. Pankaj has a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK; master's in financial management from London, UK; an executive education (Advanced Management Program) from Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, U.S.; and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, India. Pankaj is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK. He is recipient of the top leadership award within Lilly and has over 20 publications.
Jarka Glassey. PhD graduated from the Slovak Technical University, Bratislava, Slovak Republic in 1990 with a First Class Honours in Biochemical Engineering. She was awarded a PhD in bioprocess modelling and control by the University of Newcastle in 1995. Dr. Glassey joined the lecturing staff of the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials (formerly the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering), where she currently holds the position of senior lecturer. Her research areas concentrate on issues relating to bioprocesses, ranging from the development of novel postgenomic modeling tools to the investigations of artificial intelligence methods and their practical application mainly in biopharmaceutical industry. Her research and the results of close collaboration with a range of industrial partners are widely published.
Gary A. Montague, PhD, graduated from the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Newcastle in 1982 with a First Class Honours in Chemical Engineering. The following year he obtained an MEng in control systems from the University of Sheffield before returning to study at Newcastle for a PhD in bioprocess control. He joined the lecturing staff of the Department in Newcastle in 1985. Following research and teaching successes, he was appointed to a personal professorship in 1997. His research areas are quite diverse but include the development of artificial intelligence methods and their practical use in a variety of industrial sectors. Notable studies include an assessment for the Institution of Chemical Engineers in the United Kingdom on the industrial state of the art and requirements in the area of fermentation control. During the course of his research he has worked with many companies from a variety of industrial sectors. He has published the results of this work widely.
