About the Author:

Emre Salman Received the B.S. degree in microelectronics engineering from Sabancı University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2004, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester, New York, in, respectively, 2006 and 2009. Between May 2009 and September 2010, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Rochester. He also worked and conducted research at STMicroelectronics, Synopsys, and Freescale Semiconductor. Since September 2010, he has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Stony Brook University, New York, where he is the director of the Nanoscale Circuits and Systems (NanoCAS) Laboratory. His broad research interests include analysis, modeling, and design methodologies for nanoscale integrated circuits in both 2-D and 3-D technologies. 

Eby G. Friedman: Received the B.S. degree from Lafayette College in 1979, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Irvine, in, respectively, 1981 and 1989. From 1979 to 1991, he was with Hughes Aircraft Company, rising to the position of manager of the Signal Processing Design and Test Department. He has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rochester since 1991, where he is a Distinguished Professor. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He is the author of about 400 papers and book chapters, 11 patents, and the author or editor of 15 books in the fields of  high speed and low power CMOS design techniques, 3-D design methodologies, high speed interconnect, and the theory and application of synchronous clock and power distribution networks.
