  • Select the proper transmission media for the job at hand--UTP, SCTP, STP coaxial cables, or optical fibers
  • Design and install horizontal pathways, such as under floor ducts, cellular floors, conduits, ceiling distributions, and cable trays
  • Terminate multiple horizontal cables using a multi-user telecommunications outlet assembly (MUTOA)
  • Install proper grounding and bonding components, including TMGB, TGB, and TBBIBC
  • Build a telecommunications room containing ladder and communication racks, cable-termination hardware, punch-down blocks, patch panels, and TGBs
  • Implement a sound firestopping system
  • Pull copper horizontal and fiber-optic cable, and handle termination and splicing for both
  • Test and certify copper cables using the lineman's test set, toner generator and amplifier unit, multimeter, continuity tester, and certification field tester
  • Perform attenuation, bandwidth, length, and fault location testing on fiber-optic cabling systems

Chris Clark (Roseville, CA) is the president and founder of Intercontinental Communications and Clark Technology Group (dba Net CBT) located in Roseville, California. Both Intercontinental Communications and Clark Technology Group are consulting, design and training organisations. Chris holds both the RCDD and LAN Specialist credentials from BICSI. He is a licensed California Contractor with a C-7 license for low voltage systems. Chris is also a certified BICSI and Nordex/CDT IBDN instructor and a member of the BICSI Engineering and Methods Committee for Local Area Network and LAN cabling design.
