About the Author:
Susan Nolen-Hoeksema, Ph.D., is professor of psychology at Yale University. She has also been a professor at Stanford University and the University of Michigan. She received her B.A. from Yale University and her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on mood regulation and on gender differences in psychopathology. The recipient of two major teaching awards, Professor Nolen- Hoeksema has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the William T. Grant Foundation. She was awarded the Leadership Award from the Committee on Women, as well as the Early Career Award from the American Psychological Association. She lives near New Haven, Connecticut, with her husband, Richard, and her son, Michael.
