The third edition of this popular text is virtually a new book. It has been completely rewritten and extended to cater for wider educational needs whilst retaining the desirable attributes of the first two editions. Notably the field of social biology is given greater emphasis, the topics of food and nutrition have been more fully covered and there is a new section dealing with the chemicals of life. The book is aimed at students in their later school years and early college years of the UK, USA and many other parts of the world. There exists much overlap in many of the courses taught, and the author skilfully addresses himself to this area, particularly in the specialisms of anatomy, physiology and hygiene, drawing on his teaching experience gained over 25 years.
