The book covers the overlapping subject areas of structural geology and geological map interpretations. The emphasis lies in developing the skills of the student in three dimensional visualization and the practical application of structural geology to the solution of map exercises. It contains comprehensive descriptions of important geological structures to match GCSE, A-level, and first-year undergraduate course syllabuses, and many worked examples are included. There are numerous illustrations, with a large number in two-colour, and also photographs of field outcrops to simulate the environment of the geologist in the field. Care is taken to define terms rigorously, and in a way that is in keeping with current professional usage.
