From the Back Cover:

The only airworthiness guide available―

a unique single reference covering the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the US Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)

A thorough understanding of airworthiness is central to maintaining and operating aircraft safely. While no book can replace the official regulatory documentation, this unique guide provides readers with a single reference covering and interpreting the relevant US and European regulations, helping anyone involved in the design, manufacture, maintenance and operation of aircraft to understand this complex yet essential topic.

Setting the requirements in a real-world context, Airworthiness: An Introduction to Aircraft Certification offers a clearly arranged overview and guidance on the world of aircraft certification. Key topics covered include:

  • Airworthiness standards and requirements for all classes, including large and small aircraft, rotorcraft, sailplanes and unmanned aircraft
  • Type certification of aircraft, engines, and propellers and the type certification process
  • Parts and appliances approval
  • Design and production certification approval
  • Continued Airworthiness and Operation

With updates throughout to bring the book up to date with current rules and requirements, this second edition also includes a new chapter on the growing commercialization of human space flights and related airworthiness considerations.
