Not content to be an update on The Group, Satisfaction delivers on its promise with gusto. Four girls thrown together at Radcliffe hardly seem destined to become fast friends. Meek, pleasant Rosaline has her name firmly written on the social register; scheming Katie Lee plays hardball with relish; December takes her pleasure from drugs and men; and Marinda is the obsessive daughter of a tightly knit family that dabbles in organized crime. Although ambition scatters the four in separate directions, their lives are tied together by a rather weak, winsomely romantic writer from Montana. While cold, calculating Katie Lee spins business dross into gold, Marinda drifts unhappily before finding a family niche. December rockets to the top in modeling, then moves on to conquer Hollywood. And Rosaline is the perfect wife and mother until love from an unexpected quarter turns her inside out. There are no huge surprises here, but juicy scandal and engaging, rough-edged characters will keep readers turning pages far into the night; it's unlikely that many of them will take advantage of the publisher's canny "satisfaction guaranteed" money-back offer. 125,000 first printing; $150,000 ad/promo; first serial to Cosmopolitan; BOMC alternate.

No-nonsense Katie Lee, shy Rosaline, earthy Marinda, and free-spirited December are roommates at Radcliffe, circa 1972. All are beautiful, talented, and destined for success (though the road will be bumpy, in true soap opera fashion). All will love the handsome and just-about-perfect Schuyler Smith, though only one will win him. Who that person will be presents something of a mystery for awhile, but soon becomes obvious in this opus of ambition, greed, romance, and life in the fast lane that covers a decade. Lots of sex and twists of plot in the Jackie Collins-Judith Krantz school of writing, and though fairly engrossing, the book's about 200 pages too long. But fans of the genre will no doubt gobble this up. Rosellen Brewer, Monterey Cty. Lib., Seaside, Cal.

paperback. Condition: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
