This volume, part of a series on heterocyclic chemistry, is concerned with medicinal chemistry, where derivatives of aminomethylenemalonates are key intermediaries in the synthesis of antimalarial agents and also fulfil other functions, such as being anticoccidials for use in respiratory infections, bone, joint and skin infections and as antibacterial agents. The book also covers 19th century work on the structure of aminomethylenemalonates, synthesis, other reactions and recent research.
