Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete Structures: Mechanism, Monitoring and Control presents research, theory and practice on the control of corrosion in reinforced concrete structures. The title is a comprehensive guide to corrosion, its monitoring and prevention in reinforced concrete structures. It considers the essential mechanisms of corrosion, provides key monitoring techniques, describes how to effectively control corrosion, and how to establish a cyber-physical protection system. As corrosion is one of the most significant factors in the deterioration of civil engineering structures globally, and with concrete the world’s most utilized manufactured material, this book highlights strategies to keep corrosion from becoming a serious threat.

Guofu Qiao is Professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology in China. He leads the Key Lab of Smart Prevention and Mitigation of Civil Engineering Disasters for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and heads a research group on corrosion in civil engineering that has published over 50 papers on the topic.
Dr. Bingbing Guo is an associate professor of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. He mainly focuses on concrete durability in coastal environments, low-carbon concrete structures, etc. Prof. Guo obtained his PhD degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in Oct. 2018, and then had been employed as a postdoctoral fellow in Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology for two years. He was once invited as a visiting scholar at ETH Zurich from Feb. 2022 to Aug. 2023. Prof. Guo has led many research projects as IP, and received fundings from National Natural Science Foundation of China, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, China Scholarship Council, etc.
Corrosion is one of the most significant factors in the deterioration of civil engineering structures globally. Concrete is the world’s most utilized manufactured material, with nearly 30 billion tons produced annually. Degrative processes, among which corrosion is the most significant, reduce the durability of concrete structures, and upgrading or replacing ageing infrastructure is now critical to many developed countries, where corrosion poses a serious threat. Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete Structures presents research, theory and practice on control of corrosion in reinforced concrete structures. The title considers the essential mechanisms of corrosion, provides key monitoring techniques, describes how to control corrosion effectively, and how to establish a cyber-physical protection system. The title is a comprehensive guide to corrosion, its monitoring, and prevention in reinforced concrete structures.
