The SPSS Syntax Reference Guide is a reference to the command syntax for the SPSS Base system and the Regression Models and Advanced Models options. This manual does not provide an overview of SPSS, teach you how to create jobs and interpret results, or show you how to run SPSS on your computer and operating system. This information is supplied in a separate SPSS Base User's Guide.
Manuals for SPSS Release 11.0. Documentation for SPSS Release 11.0 consists of:
* The SPSS Base User's Guide provides detailed information on how to run SPSS on your computer's operating system, including complete documentation of the user interface provided for your system. It also explains many of the statistical concepts involved, how to use the statistical procedures correctly, and how to interpret the results.
* SPSS Regression Models provides techniques for analyzing data that do not fit traditional linear statistical models. It includes procedures for probit analysis, logistic regression, weight estimation, two-stage least-squares regression, and general nonlinear regression.
* SPSS Advanced Models focuses on techniques often used in sophisticated experimental and biomedical research. It includes procedures for general linear models (GLM), linear mixed models, variance components analysis, loglinear analysis, ordinal regression, actuarial life tables, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, and basic and extended Cox Regression.
* The SPSS Syntax Reference Guide documents and provides examples of the command syntax. On some computer operating systems, the user interface makes it possible to obtain most of the features of SPSS without ever looking at command syntax. There are, however, some features that can be obtained only by entering and running SPSS commands.
